The sugar silo 9 in Uelzen was repaired with CRC in 2015 following fire damage. In addition to the roof and the ring beam, an area of around 4,500 m² of the inner silo shell was renewed. Up to three layers of carbon reinforcement grids with a total area of around 14,000 m² were embedded in 340 tonnes of fine-grained concrete to form a CRC strengthening layer. The repair with CRC allowed the sugar silo, which was only built in 2013, to be out back into service. The application of CRC made it possible to restore the load-bearing capacity and ensure its suitability for use.
