Located in the historic cityscape of Prague, the multi-storey residential and commercial building was modernised as part of a comprehensive structural strengthening programme. The aim was to adapt the load-bearing capacity of the existing floor slabs to increased requirements arising from commercial use – particularly retail areas – without altering the external appearance or restricting the use of the building.

Die Lösung: eine flächige Verstärkung der Deckenunterseiten mit Carbonbeton. Zum Einsatz kam eine lediglich 20 mm dünne Carbonbetonschicht, die mit vier Lagen Carbonbewehrung aufgebracht wurde. Diese minimalinvasive Maßnahme ermöglichte eine deutliche Erhöhung der Biegetragfähigkeit auf der zugbeanspruchten Unterseite, ohne zusätzliche Raumhöhe zu beanspruchen oder schweres Zusatzgewicht einzutragen – ein entscheidender Vorteil im Bestandsbau.

In addition to the structurally insufficient reinforcement of the floor slabs, the implementation abroad presented challenges that required precise coordination and high logistical efficiency. The use of CRC provided ideal conditions for this: lightweight, slender, high-performance and economical in both planning and execution.
